The Henry ... Like No Other in Cebu City

The Henry prides itself in being a unique boutique hotel.  We will call it home for the next 4 nights in Cebu.  The decor is whimsical and the hotel has an industrial/textile feel to it, similar the some of the renovated mills apartments in my home town in Lowell, MA.

I originally booked the "Big" room back in states and got a great rate on Agoda.com.  I figured we would be out and about and only needed a room to shower and sleep.

Since the hotel was a bit further away from downtown , the taxi driver had difficulty finding the hotel.  We finally reached our destination and were welcomed by friendly young doormen that helped us with our luggage.

We were offered lemonade for a nice refreshing welcome drink that was greatly appreciated at check-in.

The lobby decor was fun and playful.  The staff's uniform was reminiscent of a cute and quirky nerd with a bow tie and black thick rimmed faux glasses.

I had a slight urge to inquire about upgrading our room to a larger one and the front desk advised that the X-Large room was available at an additional $43.00 USD per night.  I was able to negotiate her down to $36.00 a night and we took the upgrade.  That is the thing about the Philippines, almost everything is negotiable.

I took a glimpse of the courtyard pool and knew right away that I would be spending some time there.

We took the elevator to the 6th floor where our room was located and this was the directory in the elevator.

As we entered our room, we were shocked how massive it was.  It was more like a suite with a sitting area, bed with a bathroom off to the side.  This is the 3rd hotel in a row where the tub had a view of the bedroom area.  Is this a new trend?  We were definitely pleased with the decision to upgrade.  Our two large windows had a view of the garden pool.  Being in the lighting industry, I appreciated the swag chain decorative pendants by our nightstands.

We excited unpacked our things and was relieved that we wouldn't be living out of a suite case for at least another 4 days.

This has got to be one of the coolest hotels that we have stayed in on our travels.
